The town of 40,000 offers all the amenities your family could need/want including grocery stores, a farmer’s market, one of the best coffee houses on the island, a huge central town park & pool, and some of the highest-rated elementary schools in the state. Further, Manoa ranks high on outdoor recreation options with multiple hiking trails, including the famous Manoa falls Trail, the aforementioned central park & pool, and countless areas to jog.
The average home price in Manoa is $1.32 million, 25% higher than the average home price on Oahu. With no money down, almost all VA loan purchases in Manoa will be via the VA High Balance loan. However, after you have pulled your Certificate of Eligibility and been pre-approved for your VA loan here in Hawaii, Manoa should be one of the areas you look at. The commute from Manoa to many of the bases is also very reasonable. 20-25 minutes is the average morning commute from Manoa to JBPHH.
